About Women Sing East

WOMEN SING EAST is a well-established women’s choir which meets in east London. For many years the choir was part of Spitalfields Music’s community programme, becoming independent in 2015. Fiona Hymns, a trained singer and experienced teacher, is our musical director and our accompanist is Dan Chappell.

We sing a wide repertoire of musical genres including jazz, pop, folk and classical and our performances featured in the Spitalfields Music festival for many seasons. We put on a concert every summer and perform at a number of events during the year.

The choir gives members the opportunity to enhance their singing and performing skills, learn new techniques, have fun and meet people in a supportive environment. New members are welcome, we don’t hold auditions and no previous experience is necessary.

The organisation and finances of Women Sing East are overseen by a voluntary committee of members and our musical director. We have a constitution and hold an annual general meeting every autumn.
